2. <strong>Tapti</strong>: It is located in a rift valley and rises in the Satpura mountain range.</p>

<p>1. The Narmada and the Tapi are the two principal west-flowing rivers.</p>

<p>2. This unusual behavior is caused by the fact that these rivers did not form valleys; rather, they run via faults (linear rift, rift valley, and trough) made possible by the northern peninsula's bending during the development of the Himalayas. Parallel to the Satpuras and the Vindhyas are these flaws.</p>

<p>3. The Son-Narmada Fault (NSF), which divides the Indian subcontinent into a peninsular block to the south and a foreland block to the north, determines Narmada's path. The Peninsular block is also slightly inclined eastward.</p>
