He established the Cosmic Ray Research Institute at IISC. He set up the Tata institute of Fundamental Research in 1945 and also the Atomic Energy Commission in 1948. He died in a plane crash near Mont Blanc in swiss alps while on his way to Vienna.

He was an Indian Philosopher and a social leader He was the first to give a call for Swaraj as India for Indians in 1876, a call later taken up by Lokmanya Tilak. He was assassinated in 1883 in Ajmer.

As of 2020, 9 out of 28 EU member states recognise Palestine. Relations between EU and PLO were established in 1975 as part of Euro-Arab Dialogue. The EU is member of the Quartet and is single largest donor of foreign aid to Palestinian authority.
