<p>(x<sup>2</sup> + y<sup>2</sup>)<sup>2</sup> -  x<sup>2</sup>y<sup>2 </sup>= 21</p>

<p>(x<sup>2</sup> + y<sup>2</sup>)<sup>2</sup> = 21 + x<sup>2</sup>y<sup>2 </sup>.................(1)</p>

<p>x<sup>2</sup> + xy + y<sup>2</sup> = 3</p>

<p>On putting the value of eq 2 in eq 1 we get,</p>

<p>9 + x<sup>2</sup>y<sup>2</sup> - 6xy = 21 + x<sup>2</sup>y<sup>2</sup></p>

<p>-6xy = 12</p>
