<p>Speed of the swimmer be x and current be y.</p>

<p>Speed (Downstream) = x + y = 66/3 = 22 km/h</p>

<p>Speed (Upstream) = x - y = 36/6 = 6 km/h</p>

<p>Adding both equation we get,</p>

<p>Speed of swimmer = 2x =  28</p>

<p>⇒ x = 14 km/h and </p>

<p>⇒ y = 8 km/h</p>

<p>Required difference = x - y = 14 - 8 = 6 km/h.</p>
