<p>Therefore, (R + 2)T = 48</p>

<p>RT + 2T = 48   ...(1)</p>

<p>For the second investment: 0.60P = <span class="math-tex">\(P\times R\times (T+2)\over100\)</span></p>

<p>Therefore, R(T + 2) = 60</p>

<p>RT + 2R = 60   ...(2)</p>

<p>Subtracting equation (1) from equation (2):</p>

<p>2R − 2T = 12</p>

<p>R − T = 6</p>

<p>Therefore, R = T + 6</p>

<p>Substituting this in equation (1): (T + 6 + 2)T = 48</p>

<p>(T + 8)T = 48</p>

<p>T<sup>2</sup> + 8T − 48 = 0</p>

<p>(T + 12)(T − 4) = 0</p>

<p>Since time cannot be negative, T = 4</p>

<p>Therefore, R = T + 6 = 4 + 6 = 10</p>
