<p>The Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi addressed the Global Fintech Fest 2024, organised by Payments Council of India, NPCI and Fintech Convergence Council. The Fest was held at the Jio World Convention centre in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The aim is to bring together the stakeholders of the sector and enhance the Fintech sector. </p>

<p>The Legislative Assembly of Assam recently passed a New bill namely the Assam Compulsory Registration of Muslim Marriages and Divorces Bill, 2024. The major objective of the law is to address issues like child marriage, marriages without mutual consent and polygamy. The new law replaced the Assam Muslim Marriages and Divorces Registration act of 1935.</p>

<p>A highly contagious disease namely Deadly Sloth Fever also known as Oropouche Virus is spreading across Europe and US. It is an insect borne virus that is spread by bites from infected biting midges. The virus was first discovered in 1985 in Trinidad and Tobago. Its symptoms are similar to the Dengue virus like Headache, Fever, Muscle pain etc. The virus currently has no Vaccine available. </p>

<p>The Warren Buffett led Berkshire Hathaway becomes first Non-tech company to hit a market value of USD 1 Trillion. The company sold nearly half of its shares in Apple thereby building up a huge cash reserve of USD 280 billion. The company was founded in 1965 by Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger. The company originally started as a textile company and turned into an investment company.</p>

<p>The Indian unit of Google Deepmind’s India unit launched the biggest AI project “MORNI” in 125 Indian Languages. The Morni project is focussed on developing AI technologies that can understand and work with 125 different Indian Languages. Google Deepmind was founded in 2010 and became famous after it launched its AI program AlphaGo.</p>

<p>The 2nd Joint India-Russian Commission on Cooperation in Emergency Management was recently held in Moscow. The Indian delegation led by Minister of State for Home Affairs Shri Nityanand Rai met the Russian delegation to improve disaster management and cooperation in times of Emergencies. The Indo-Russian Joint commission was formed in 2013.</p>

<p>Mangala Muduli, a 19 year old Bonda Tribe member became the first from the tribe to crack the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance test (NEET). Bonda Tribe are exclusively found in Malkangiri district of Odisha and it is a Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG). They belong to Austro-Asiatic race and are primarily farmers.</p>

<p>The International Whale Shark day is annually observed on August 30 aimed at saving the gentle giants of the sea along the Indian Coast. Whale Shark is the largest fish in the world and is found in all temperate and tropical oceans around the world. Its IUCN status is Endangered and is protected under the Schedule 1 of the WPA 1972.</p>

<p>The Indian para shooter Avani Lekhara became the first Indian woman to win two gold medals at Paralympics. She successfully defended her women's 10m air rifle shooting standing SH1 title at Paris Paralympics 2024. She broke her own record of 249.6 made at Tokyo Olympics by scoring 249.7.</p>
