<p>Tumaini Festival held annually within the Dzaleka Refugee Camp in Malawi unites refugees and locals through music, art and crafts. The festival aims to foster connection and hope. The festival was founded in 2014 and it is the only festival of its kind in the world held within a refugee camp. The festival received a Cultures of Resistance Award in 2024.</p>

<p>The Yanadi Tribe was recently in the news after three children of the Tribe went missing from their homes. The three children were missing from their homes at Kalekhanpeta in Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Yanadis are major scheduled Tribes of Andhra Pradesh and are amongst the most vulnerable tribal groups in India. The mother tongue of the Tribesmen is Telugu and Dhimsa Dance is performed by them during festivals and special conditions. </p>

<p>The Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Shri Sukhwinder Singh urged the Central Government to run trains on the Kalka-Shimla Railway (KSR) on green Hydrogen. KSR was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2008. It is a narrow gauge railway that traverses a mountainous route from Kalka (Haryana) to Shimla (Himachal Pradesh). It was built in 1898 and its project engineer was S Harington.</p>

<p>The Central Water Commission’s report states that Himalayan Glacial Lakes saw 10.81% area expansion from 2011 to 2014. The expansion signals a heightened risk of Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOFs). CWC functions under the Ministry of Jal Shakti and it is headquartered in New Delhi. The Commission is headed by Chairman and is divided among 3 wings namely Design and Research, River Management and Water Planning and Projects.</p>

<p>The Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Shri Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu recently launched Water sports activities at Gobind Sagar Lake. It is a manmade reservoir located in Una and Bilaspur districts of Himachal Pradesh. The lake is named after the tenth Sikh guru, Guru Gobind Singh and its source is Bhakra Dam on Sutlej River. The lake was recognised as the Waterfowl Refuge in 1962. </p>

<p>World's first wooden satellite, LignoSat built by Japanese researchers at Kyoto University and home builder Sumitomo Forestry, was recently launched into space. The satellite was flown to the International Space Station on a SpaceX mission and released into a low Earth orbit of about 400 km. The major objective is to leverage the eco-friendliness and cost effectiveness of wood in space exploration.</p>

<p>The Defence Minister of India Shri Rajnath Singh recently inaugurated the Major Ralengnao Bob Khathing museum of Valour at Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh. Major Ralengnao Bob Khathing became the first from Manipur during World War 2 to get the King's Commission. He is famous for leading a successful expedition to peacefully integrate Tawang into India. </p>

<p>The famous Ningol Chakkouba Festival of Manipur was held recently with religious fervour and gaiety across the state. It is held annually on the second day of the lunar month of Hiyangei of the Meitei calendar. The festival is majorly celebrated by the Meitei community. “Ningol” means Married Woman and “Chakkouba” means invitation for feast. </p>
