Q:1 The correct answer is option 5 i.e. 79

There are two alternate series;

1st series is 78, 79, 84, 90;

78 + 2 = 80 (Not 79)

80 + 4 = 84

84 + 6 = 90

2nd series is 77, 75, 71, 65;

77 – 2 = 75,

75 – 4 = 71,

71 – 6 = 65

∴ Here it is evident that 79 is the wrong term and must be replaced with 80.

 

Q:2 The correct answer is option 1 i.e. 92

Concept: Double difference

28, 33, 39, 47, 58, 73, 92 (1st series)

The difference between the consecutive terms:

5(33 - 28), 6(39 – 33), 8(47 – 39), 11(58 – 47), 15(73 – 58), 19(92 – 73)

⇒ 5, 6, 8, 11, 15, 19 (2nd series)

Again, observing the difference between consecutive terms:

1(6 – 5), 2(8 – 6), 3(11 – 8), 4(15 – 11), 4(19 – 15)

⇒ 1, 2, 3, 4, 4 (3rd series)

Here this 3rd series will be only meaningful if the last term is 5 in place of 4;

∴ In 2nd series, 20 should be replaced with 19

∴ In 1st series, 92 must be replaced with 93.

 

Q:3 The correct answer is option 2 i.e. 100

16 + 3.5 × 1 = 19.5

19.5 + 3.5 × 3 = 19.5 + 10.5 = 30

30 + 3.5 × 5 = 30 + 17.5 = 47.5

47.5 + 3.5 × 7 = 72 

72 + 3.5 × 9 = 72 + 31.5 = 103.5 (Not 100)

∴ Here it is evident that 100 is the wrong term and must be replaced with 103.5.

 

Q:4 The correct answer is option 4 i.e. 1006

(2007 + 1) ÷ 1 = 2008,

(2008 + 2) ÷ 2 = 1005 (Not 1006) 

(1005 + 3) ÷ 3 = 336,

(336 + 4) ÷ 4 = 85,

(85 + 5) ÷ 5 = 18

∴ Here it is evident that 1006 is the wrong term and must be replaced with 1005.

 

Q:5 The correct answer is option 4 i.e. 446

83 – 82 = 512 – 64 = 448 (Not 446)

73 – 72 = 343 – 49 = 294,

63 – 62 = 216 – 36 = 180 

53 – 52 = 125 – 25 = 100,

43 – 42 = 64 – 16 = 48,

33 – 32 = 27 – 9 = 18,

23 – 22 = 8 – 4 = 4

∴ Here it is evident that 446 is the wrong term and must be replaced with 448.

 

Q:6 The correct answer is option 5 i.e. 39

Here we have two alternate series:

(87, 78, 60, 39) and (83, 74, 56, 29)

Observing the difference between consecutive terms:

83 – 74 = 9

74 – 56 = 18

56 – 29 = 27

And

87 – 78 = 9

78 – 60 = 18

60 – 39 = 21 (it must be 27)

∴ Here it is evident that 39 is the wrong term and must be replaced with 33.

 

Q:7 The correct answer is Option 3 i.e. 13

1535.625/341.25 = 4.5

341.25/97.5 = 3.5

97.5/39 = 2.5

39/26 = 1.5

26/13 = 2 (It should be 0.5)

∴ Here it is evident that 13 is the wrong term and must be replaced with 52.

 

Q:8 The correct answer is option 2 i.e. 119

The series follows the following pattern:

⇒ 157 – 4 (1 + 3) = 153,

⇒ 153 – 12 (5 + 7) = 141,

⇒ 141 – 20 (9 + 11) = 121 (Not 119)

⇒ 121 – 28 (13 + 15) = 93,

⇒ 93 – 36 (17 + 19) = 57

Hence, wrong term is 119.

 

Q:9 Correct Answer is option 1 i.e. 519

451 = 212 + 10,

474 = 222 – 10,

232 + 10 = 539 (Not 519)

566 = 242 – 10,

635 = 252 + 10,

666 = 262 – 10

∴ Here it is evident that 519 is the wrong term and must be replaced with 539.

 

Q:10 The correct answer is option 2 i.e. 1641

The series follows the following pattern:

⇒ 5 × 3 - 1 = 14

⇒ 14 × 4 - 1 = 55

⇒ 55 × 5 - 1 = 274

⇒ 274 × 6 - 1 = 1643 (Not 1641)

⇒ 1643 × 7 - 1 = 11500

Hence, wrong term is 1641.
