Law of Motion FAQs

What is Newton's 2nd law called?

Newton s Second Law of Motion is also known as the Law of Force and Acceleration.

What is called inertia?

Inertia is a property of matter by which it remains at the state of rest or in uniform motion in the same straight line unless acted upon by some external force.

What are the Equations of motion under freely falling body?

  1. v = u + gt
  2. s = ut + 1/2 gt2
  3. v2 – u2 = 2gs

Define relative velocity.

Relative velocity is the velocity of an object relative to some other object which might be stationary, moving slowly, moving with same velocity, moving with higher velocity or moving in opposite direction.

Give Examples of projectile motion.

Examples of projectile motion are Kicked or thrown balls, Jumping animals, A bomb released from a bomber plane, A shell of a gun etc.
