<p>A New species of Tardigrades scientifically named Hypsibius Hainanensis was recently discovered. A team of researchers have identified a genetic mechanism that helps a newly discovered species withstand high levels of radiation. Tardigrades are known as Water bears or Moss piglets. They are free living tiny invertebrates that belong to phylum Tardigradam. They are considered as Aquatic and freshwater mosses and lichens are their preferred habitat. </p>

<h2 id="content-id-1730981127071-1"><strong>200th anniversary of Kittur Vujayotsava</strong></h2>

<p>The Department of Posts have recently released a postage stamp on the 200th anniversary of Kittur Vujayotsava at the historic Kittur Rani Channamma Stage, Kittur Fort Premises. The stamp was released to commemorate Rani Chinammas glorious victory of 23rd October, 1824 against British Rule. The Kittur Rebellion was fought when British East India refused to recognise Shivalingappa, the grandson of Rani Chinappa as the successor of the kingdom under the Doctrine of Lapse. </p>

<p>The Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi recently gifted Sohrai Painting to the Russian President at the recently held BRICS summit in Kazan. Sohrai Painting is an Indigenous mural art form that dates back to the Meso-chalcolithic period (9000-5000 BC). The painting has themes based on Natural elements of the Universe that includes Forests, Rivers, Animals etc. The Painting is made by Tribal Women with use of charcoal, Clay or Soil. </p>

<p>A report titled “Coral Triangle at Risk: Fossil Fuel Threats and Impact” was recently released at 16th COP to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). The report produced by Earth Insight and Sky Truth stated alarming facts about Oil and Gas Activities in the Coral Triangle. The Coral Triangle often referred to as the Amazon Of the Seas covers an area of 10 million square kilometres and is home to 76% of the World's Coral Species. It includes countries like Indonesia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Philippines, Timor-Leste and Solomon Islands. </p>

<h2 id="content-id-1730981127071-4"><strong>40 migratory birds found dead at Sambhar Lake</strong></h2>

<p>Officials have recently discovered over 40 dead bodies of migratory birds belonging to three different species around Sambhar Lake in Jaipur. Sambhar Lake is the largest saltwater lake in India and is located in Nagaur and Jaipur districts of Rajasthan. The Lake is surrounded on all sides by the Aravalli hills and was designated as a Ramsar site in 1990.</p>

<p>A report card assessing the progress made by the Multilateral Development Banks(MDB) has recently been issued by the G20 Independent Group. The assessment report highlights the gap between current achievements and the ambitious triple agenda needed to meet global development and sustainability goals. MDBs act as financial institutions providing loans, grants and technical assistance to foster economic and social development in low-middle income countries. The Triple mandate for MDBs are Eliminating Extreme Poverty, Promoting Inclusive Growth and Financing Global Public Goods. </p>

<p>The Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh recently released the 21st Livestock Census in New Delhi. The last census was conducted in 2019 and the census is conducted every 2 years. Livestock census consists of data on various livestock species, including Cattle, Buffaloes, Shee, Goats, Pigs and Poultry. The 21st census documents 16 species along with 219 indigenous breeds recognised by ICAR-NBAGR.</p>

<p>The Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh recently launched the Pandemic Fund Project on “Animal Health Security Straightening in India for Pandemic Preparedness and Response” in New Delhi. The Initiative with a corpus of USD 25 million was funded by G20 pandemic Fund and is designed to enhance the country's Animal Health Security. The fund is implemented in partnership with ADB, FAO, World Bank.</p>

<p>The Seventh Anti Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft(ASW SWC) named “Abhay” was recently launched by the Indian Navy. It is built by India's leading shipbuilding company Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE). It is designed with 80% indigenous content and is 77 metre long, 10 metre wide warship.</p>

<p>The ace Tennis Star Maria Sharapova along with Bryan Brothers are set to be inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2025. Maria Sharapova is one of only 10 women in tennis history to achieve a career singles Grand Slam and topped the world ranking five times. The Bryan Brothers namely Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan hold the record for most weeks atop the ATP doubles rankings.</p>
