<h2 id="content-id-1733258052575-0"><strong>Israel-Hezbollah enter into ceasefire</strong></h2>

<p>An Israel-Hezbollah ceasefire deal was recently adopted after Israel's cabinet approved a US backed proposal to end the 14 month long conflict. Israel-Hezbollah ceasefire has been modelled after UNSC Resolution 1701 from the 2006 conflict. The Resolution seeks to end hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah by achieving a permanent ceasefire and establishing a buffer zone. The 60 day cessation of hostilities established requires withdrawal of forces along with enhanced monitoring and supervision.</p>

<p>The Union Women and Child Development Minister Shrimati Annpurna Devi recently announced that Child Marriages in India reduced substantially from 47.4% in 2006 to 23.3% in 2019-21. The major credit behind this reduction is attributed to the Prevention of Child Marriage Act (2006). The total number of girls married in childhood globally stands at 12 million per year as per data from UNICEF. As per NFHS-5 data eight Indian states have a higher prevalence of child marriage than National Average. </p>

<h2 id="content-id-1733258052580-2"><strong>IPSN announce first round of grant towards understanding Disease threats </strong></h2>

<p>The First round of grants towards understanding Diseases threats was recently announced by the International Pathogen Surveillance Network (IPSN). Ashoka University and CSIR from India are among the 10 recipients. IPSN is a public health network with a secretariat hosted by WHO Hub for Pandemic and Endemic Intelligence. Its major objective is to prevent and detect infectious diseases threats before they become epidemics or pandemics.</p>

<p>The Half Yearly Complaints Report for 2024-25 was recently released by the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI). The report reveals a high number of misleading and illegal ads particularly in the field of real estate and offshore betting. More than 4016 complaints were received by ASCI out of which 3031 ads were investigated and taken out. ASCI is a voluntary self-regulatory organisation established in 1985.</p>

<p>Dunlin, a Near Threatened species, was among the 192 avian species spotted at Kochi edition of the Kerala Bird Race. It is a small shorebird and is a fully migratory circumpolar breeder. A Group of Dunlin is known as “Flight” or “Trip” and they spend the summer breeding season in Arctic and subarctic regions. The bird species is vulnerable to avian Influenza.</p>

<p>The Black thrips infestation has resurfaced in the Chilli crop around Ballari, Karnataka. Black Thrips is an invasive Pest species that was first reported in India in 2015 on Papaya. These pest species are classified as Polyphagous as they can feed on different plant species. They are widely distributed across Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Gujarat, Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Odisha, Tamil Nadu and Chhattisgarh.</p>

<p>The landmark Design Law Treaty (DLT) aimed at harmonizing the procedural frameworks for Industrial Design protection was recently adopted by the member states of World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO). The treaty after nearly two decades of negotiations was recently adopted in Riyadh. It aims to improve the efficiency and accessibility of the registration process across multiple jurisdictions.</p>

Sjogren’s disease is a chronic autoimmune disorder in which the body's immune system targets its moisture producing glands. The disease is 10 times more common in women than in men and it can appear at any age, even in children. </p>
