<p>A joint project was recently launched by Israel and India to set up a New Water Technology Centre at IIT Madras. The aim is to strengthen sustainable management of water and water resources management. The Formal agreement for the centre was signed between the Embassy of Israel, IIT Madras and AMRUT mission of Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.</p>

<p>A team of archaeologists from the University of Edinburgh have discovered the World's Oldest Calendar at Gobekli Tepe, an ancient site in Southern Turkey. The site dates back to 13,000 years and is also known as the World's first temple. The team of archaeologists was led by Dr Martin Sweatman.</p>

<h2 id="content-id-123134-2"><strong>6th India-Australia Maritime Security Dialogue</strong></h2>

<p>To strengthen the maritime security cooperation in the Indian Ocean Region, India-Australia held the 6th maritime security dialogue at Canberra, Australia. The Indian delegation was led by Muanpuii Saiawi, Joint Secretary, Disarmament and International Security Affairs and the Australian delegation was led by Sarah Storey, Assistant Secretary, South Asia and Central Asia Division. A way ahead for collaboration in the maritime ecology pillar of the Indo-Pacific Ocean Initiative (IPOI) was also conferred during the dialogue.</p>

<h2 id="content-id-123134-3"><strong>Rock art at Ratnagiri declared as Protected Monument</strong></h2>

<p>The Government of Maharashtra has recently notified the ancient geoglyphs and petroglyphs in Ratnagiri as Protected Monuments under the Maharashtra Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1960. The ancient Marvel dates back to the Mesolithic era. More than 1500 such art forms are found at 70 sites across Ratnagiri.</p>

<p>A team of entomologists at ATREE, Bengaluru have recently discovered three new edible bug species. These bug species are traditionally eaten by indigenous communities in North-East India. The bugs belong to genus Coridius and family Dinidoridae. The name of the new species are Coridius Adii, Coridius Esculentu and Coridius insperatus.</p>

<p>The Indian Institute of Sciences, Bengaluru dominated the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings with top 5 in four important categories. The categories were Overall Performance, University Rankings, Research Institutions and Innovation. The IISC was established in 1909 by JRD Tata and Lady Meherbai Tata.</p>

<p>Indian Filmstar Shahrukh Khan was recently honoured with lifetime achievement award at 77th Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland. He was awarded with Pardo Alla Carriera at the film festival. Shahrukh Khan was born on November 2nd, 1965 in New Delhi. He has received more than 200 awards and has a wax statue at Madame Tussauds.</p>

<p>India observed its 78th Independence day or Swatantrata Diwas on 15th August 2024. The theme for this year's Independence day is Viksit Bharat or Developed India. It was on this day in 1947 that India got its independence from Britishers. The Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi hoisted the National flag at Red Fort, New Delhi.</p>

<p>Para shuttler Pramod Bhagat has been suspended for 18 months by the Badminton World Federation for breaching anti-doping regulations, causing him to miss the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. The World Anti-Doping Code standardizes anti-doping policies globally. Bhagat, born on June 4, 1988, is an Indian para-badminton player from Bihar, currently ranked world number 2 in men’s singles SL3, and won gold at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.</p>
