<p>Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, seen as a potential successor to Supreme Leader Khamenei, died in a helicopter crash in the mountains near the Azerbaijan border. <h2 id="content-id-96091-1"><strong>SC halts deportation of Women declared Foreigner by Tribunal</strong></h2>

<p>The Supreme Court paused the deportation of Maya Burman, labelled a foreigner by an Assam Foreigners Tribunal. The Foreigners Tribunals (FTs) are quasi-judicial bodies, established under the Foreigners (Tribunals) Order, 1964, which assess individuals suspected of being foreigners, a process initiated by state authorities. The burden of proof lies with the person to establish their citizenship. Initially, only the Central government could set up FTs, but a 2019 amendment also empowered the States. Currently, FTs function solely in Assam.</p>

<p>The Supreme Court upheld the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India's rule limiting Chartered Accountants to 60 tax audit assignments per year. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), established by the Chartered Accountants Act of 1949, regulates the profession of Chartered Accountancy. It operates under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, with headquarters in New Delhi.</p>

<p>The Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) can now add new members and formally interact with other countries after its first charter came into effect in May 2024. BIMSTEC is a regional economic group of 7 countries around the Bay of Bengal. Established in 1997, it aims to boost regional growth through cooperation in sectors like trade, technology, and energy. Dhaka houses the permanent BIMSTEC secretariat.</p>

<p>India has achieved the 39th rank in the World Economic Forum’s Travel & Tourism Development Index 2024, the highest in South Asia and among lower-middle-income economies. The Travel & Tourism Development Index assesses how well countries develop their travel industry sustainably. Launched in 2022, it is a biennial index that ranks 119 countries based on policies and factors that enable tourism growth. India's jump to 39th place signifies an improvement in its tourism competitiveness.</p>

<p>In June, a rare cosmic event will occur where six planets will align to form a near-straight line, often called a planetary parade or alignment. Although, not all planets will be visible to the naked eye. Planetary alignment refers to the apparent arrangement of planets in our solar system, giving the impression of a straight line or near-linear formation when observed from Earth. This visual phenomenon occurs due to the perspective from our vantage point and does not imply that the planets are perfectly aligned in space.</p>

<h2 id="content-id-96091-8"><strong>RBI transferred record dividend to Government of Rupees 2.11 lakh crore </strong></h2>

<p>The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) approved a record-high dividend payout of Rs 2.1 lakh crore to the government. The Economic Capital Framework (ECF) sets guidelines for the RBI to manage its profits. It considers risk buffers and capital reserves to determine how much profit can be transferred to the government. Developed in 2014-15, the ECF was revised in 2019 on recommendations from the Bimal Jalan Committee. The revised ECF focuses on both total economic capital and a buffer called a Contingent Risk Buffer (CRB) to ensure financial stability.</p>

<p>In the Sharjah Masters International chess tournament, Iranian player Bardiya Daneshvar secured his maiden title by winning the best tiebreak score in a 4-way tie for first position.
