<p>In FY24, India added 4.67 crore jobs, increasing total provisional jobs to 64.33 crore from 59.67 crore in FY23, per RBI's India KLEMS data. Employment growth rose to 6% from 3.2% in FY23. However, challenges persist with high unemployment rates, especially in the formal sector, where post-pandemic recovery remains slow. Agriculture still employs 46% of the workforce despite contributing less than 20% to GDP. The unemployment rate reached 9.2% in June 2024, up from 8% in FY24, with 3.7 crore actively seeking jobs.</p>
