Cocoponics or Soilless production of vegetables using cocopeat as a substrate has been found to be more successful in many vegetable crops. More than 3000 Urban dwellers, hydroponics startups etc were trained at ICAR-IIHR during the last 3 years.

What is Hydroponics Farming?

A) It is a viable alternative to traditional farming methods for soil less cultivation.

B) The technique enhances productivity and water use efficiency.

C) At present the technology is confined to urban farming, rooftop gardening and commercial farming.

C) Chhaupadi was outlawed in 2005 but implementation remains weak.

D) Women staying in period huts face dangers like animal attacks, smoke inhalation from fires.

E) It is a form of menstrual taboo prohibiting women and girls from participating in normal family activities.

The Ministry has identified 50 stations for the pilot project.These Kendras will be set up and operated by Licensees at locations identified by Railway Divisions. It will aim to make available quality medicines to all at an affordable price.

Migrants were removed after traces of bacteria causing Legionnaires disease were found on the water system at the barge. The Government of Britain confirmed removing 39 asylum seekers to a vessel as a precautionary measure.

About Legionnaires Disease:

A) Severe form of pneumonia caused by bacterium Legionella.

B) The bacterium is found in Lakes and Ponds and can also develop in tanks and other water systems.

C) General precautionary treatment is available but no vaccine is currently available for it.

D) Symptoms include Fever, Chills, Malaise, Muscle Pain etc.

E) Most common form of transmission is inhalation of contaminated aerosols from contaminated water.

After a study published in ERJ Open research, patients with low levels of Vitamin K in their blood are likely to have reduced lung function and suffer from Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary disease (COPD).

A) Vitamin K plays a role in blood clotting and helps the body to heal wounds.

B) The study was done by a team at University of Copenhagen and involved 4092 people.

C) People with low levels of Vitamin K had lower FEVI(Forced Expiratory Volume) and lower FVC(Forced Vital Capacity).

D) Vitamin K is found in leafy green vegetables, vegetable oils and cereal grains.
