<p>A new free and Open Source Language model (LLM) namely Llama 3.2 was recently announced by Meta at Meta Connect 2024. The new model has both image and text processing abilities and includes voice interaction features. The developers using this model can create more advanced AI applications or document analysis tools that can summarise large portions of text. </p>

<h2 id="content-id-1728703528689-1"><strong>India elected to the GlobE Network Steering committee</strong></h2>

<p>India was recently elected to the GlobE Network's Steering Committee at the plenary session held in Beijing. It is a network of anti-corruption law enforcement Authorities. The GlobE Network was officially launched as an initiative of G20 on June 3, 2021. The Grouping has 121 member countries and 219 member authorities. </p>

<p>The Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi recently launched three Param Rudrapur Supercomputing systems and High Performance Computing (HPC) systems. The three Supercomputers will be used for weather and climate research. The supercomputers have been deployed at three key locations namely Delhi, Pune and Kolkata. They have been developed under the National Supercomputing Mission. </p>

<p>The Union Minister of Textiles Shri Giriraj Singh unveiled a commemorative coin to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of the Central Silk Board. The Central Silk Board was established as a statutory body in 1948 and functions under the administrative control of the Union Ministry of Textiles. The body comprises 39 members and a Chairperson appointed by the Central Government.</p>

<p>The Hubble Space Telescope of NASA recently shared a video of a spiral galaxy, namely Caldwell 45 or NGC 5248. The spiral galaxy is made up of stars, gas and dust gathered in spiral arms. The Milky Way Galaxy which consists of Earth and our Solar system is an example of a Spiral Galaxy. Spiral galaxies constitute approximately 60% of all galaxies.</p>

<p>The Jivitputrika Festival or Jitiya Vrat Festival of Bihar was recently in the news as 46 people drowned while taking a holy dip in rivers and ponds. It is a Hindu Festival celebrated in the northern states of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and Nepal. The festival is celebrated by mothers who fast for the well-being, long life and prosperity of their children. It is a 3-day festival with the main ritual involving Nirjala Fast.</p>

<p>The Kasturirangan Committee report created to protect important ecological areas (ESA) in Western Ghats was recently rejected by the Government of Karnataka. The committee was set up in 2012 to create a National Wildlife action plan to identify ecologically sensitive areas in the Western Ghats and suggest ways to protect biodiversity</p>

<p>“The Pact for the Future” was recently adopted by World Leaders at the United Nations Summit for the Future in New York. The agreement is aimed at promoting global peace, sustainability and inclusivity for future generations. The pact includes two main parts namely Global Digital Compact and Declaration on Future Generations. The pact was adopted by a consensus among 193 member assemblies.</p>

<p>India won six gold, seven silver and fourteen Bronze medals at the WTT Youth Contender held in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. Indian girls grabbed all podium spots in the U19 and U15 categories. India in total won 27 medals at the event. Indian U19 girls namely Suhana Saini, Taneesha Kotcha, Sayali Wani and Pritha Vartika made a clean sweep. </p>
