<p>Two Earthquakes in Iran's Semnan Province have recently sparked rumours of Nuclear Tests being conducted by Iran. Although the claims were refuted by the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test Ban Treaty Organisation (CTBTO). CTBTO is an international Organisation based in Vienna, Austria that aims to ban all nuclear explosions worldwide. It is a multilateral treaty signed in 1996 that agrees to ban all nuclear explosions in all environments for military and civilian purposes. The treaty is signed by 183 states and ratified by 164 countries. </p>

<p>The Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah recently launched the Civil Registration System (CRS) mobile application. The application was launched with the aim to “integrate technology with Governance”. The application is designed to facilitate the registration of births and deaths across India and it is developed by the Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India (RGCCI). RGCCI is an office under the Ministry of Home Affairs responsible for conducting the decennial census of India. </p>

<h2 id="content-id-1731230298928-2"><strong>Telugu inscription uncovered at 13th century Simhachalam Temple</strong></h2>

<p>Epigraphists from Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) have recently discovered a Telugu inscription on the wall above the statue of Lord Hanuman at the 13th century Simhachalam Temple. It is originally known as Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Temple and is located in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The temple is dedicated to the incarnation of Vishnu known as Narasimha (The Man Lion). The Temple was constructed by Gajapati Rulers of Odisha in 11th century AD.</p>

<h2 id="content-id-1731230298928-3"><strong>Chronic Wasting Disease</strong></h2>

<p>A case of Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) was recently confirmed by New York State Authorities in a deer facility. It is a progressive and fatal neurological disease caused by abnormal proteins called Prions that damage Brain tissues. The disease mainly affects deer, elk, moose and other cervids. It is a part of a group of diseases known as Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies (TSEs). The disease is spread through bodily fluids like saliva, urine and faeces. </p>

<h2 id="content-id-1731230298928-4"><strong>Population of North Atlantic Right Whale increases by 4%</strong></h2>

<p>The researchers from the North Atlantic Right Whale Consortium recently stated that although the Whales population fell by about 25% from 2010 to 2020, the population of North Atlantic Right Whales has increased about 4% from 2020 level. North Atlantic Right Whales are migratory animals that inhabit the temperate and subpolar waters of the North Atlantic and North Pacific Oceans. They are restricted to the coastal waters of the East Coast of the US and Canada. Their IUCN Conservation Status is Critically Endangered.</p>

<h2 id="content-id-1731230298928-5"><strong>60,000 Amrit Sarovar constructed under Mission Amrit Sarovar</strong></h2>

<p>The Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi recently announced that more than 60,000 Amrit Sarovars were constructed across villages under Mission Amrit Sarovar. The scheme was launched on 24th April, 2022 with the aim to overcome the Water crisis in rural areas of the country. The Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Application and Geo Informatics (BISAG-N) is the technical partner for the mission. The eligibility for a water body to be called Amrit Sarovir is to have a pondage area of at least 1 acre with water holding capacity of 10,000 cubic metre.</p>

<h2 id="content-id-1731230298928-6"><strong>Four new components added under MIDH</strong></h2>

<p>The Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) is set to be expanded by the Union Government of India by addition of four new components namely Hydroponics, Aquaponics, Vertical Farming and Precision Agriculture. MIDH is a Centrally sponsored scheme implemented since 2014-15 for holistic development of the Horticulture sector. The key components under MIDH are National Horticulture Mission, Horticulture Mission for North East and Himalayan states, National Bamboo mission, Coconut Development Board and Central Institute of Horticulture.</p>

<p>The Greenhouse Gas Levels surged to a new record in 2023 according to the Greenhouse Gas Bulletin of WMO. The Greenhouse Gas Levels have risen by more than 10% in just two decades. The Bulletin has been published annually by the World Meteorological Organization since 2004. The report showcases average surface molecules fractions for Carbon diOxide, Methane and Nitrous Oxide and compares them with mole fractions during previous year and pre industrial levels. </p>

<p>A workshop for drafting the Ayurveda Process Handbook was recently conducted by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine. The task for preparing the handbook officially commenced on 5th September 2024 by Vaidya Jayanti Deopujari, Chairman, NCISM. NCISM is a statutory body constituted under NCISM act 2020 and it aims to provide for a medical education system that improves access to quality and affordable medical education.</p>

<p>The International Cricket Council (ICC) recently appointed Sumathi Dharmawardena as New Independent chairman of its Anti Corruption unit. He replaced Sir Ronnie Flanagan who was incharge for 14 years. He has served as Additional Solicitor General at the Attorney General's Department of Sri Lanka.</p>
