<p>The 12th Century cathedral namely Notre-Dame Cathedral was recently restored by more than 1000 craftspeople after Fire gutted the Gothic masterpiece. The project of restoration called the Project of the Century by the French President took five and a half years to complete. The foundation stone of the cathedral was laid by Pope Alexander III in 1163 and the cathedral has witnessed many historical events notably the coronation of Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, marriages of kings of France including Henry IV. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.</p>

<p>The Bromalite breakthrough highlights how dinosaurs rose to dominance during the Triassic Period. Bromalites are fossilised feces and vomit of organisms consisting of material from their digestive system. These are important indicators of behavioural data and they record consumption, processing and elimination of material through digestive systems. Coprolites are known as the most famous bromalites.</p>

<p>The scientists, with the help of European Southern Observatory’s Very Large Telescope Interferometer (VLTI), have succeeded in taking a zoomed in picture of WOH G64 Star located in another galaxy. The star is located 160,000 light years away in the Large Magellanic Cloud and it seems to be cloaked in an egg shaped cocoon. The star is classified as a red supergiant and the picture reveals that the star is entering the last stages of its life.</p>

<p>The Asian Development Bank (ADB) recently granted a USD 98 million loan to the Government of India to improve horticulture crop farmers' access to certified disease free planting materials. The initiative aligns with India's AtmaNirbhar Clean Plant Programme aimed at addressing critical issues in horticulture by providing access to high quality, virus free planting material. The programme was implemented by MoA&FW through National Horticulture Board and ICAR. </p>

<p>The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) in association with the World Bank recently organised a two day Global India Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) Programme. The Programme was organised in New Delhi and it aims to enhance international supply chain security and facilitate movement of legitimate goods. The programme is under the aegis of World Customs Organisation (WCO) SAFE Framework of Standards).</p>

<p>The Global Engagement Scheme previously known as the Scheme for the Promotion of International Cultural Relations was implemented by the Ministry to Culture. The scheme is aimed at promoting India’s rich cultural heritage. Festival of India (FoI) is organised under the scheme in foreign countries to promote people to people connect and bilateral cultural contacts. The grants in aid will be sanctioned to Indo-Foreign friendship Cultural Societies scheme. </p>

<p>India has recently been re-elected to the United Nations Peacebuilding Commission (PBC) for the 2025-26. The UN PBC is an intergovernmental advisory body established on December 20, 2005 by UNGA and UNSC. It aims to support peace efforts in conflict affected countries. It is composed of 31 member states elected from UNGA, UNSC and UN ECOSOC. </p>

<p>The Health Department of Officials in Karnataka have recently been directed to conduct a scientific study on Handigodu Disease. It is an Osteoarthritic disorder prevalent in Chikmagalur and Shimoga district of Karnataka. It is an inherited degenerative osteoarthropathy and is named after the village of Handigodu. The affected individuals are presented with severe joint and hip pain and in certain extreme cases individuals are made to crawl due to pain.</p>

<h2 id="content-id-1733479413549-8"><strong>Sukpak breaks record for longest migratory flight</strong></h2>

<p>The record for the longest migratory flight covering a distance of over 3676 km to Rajasthan was recently broken by a Siberian Demoiselle Crane nicknamed Sukpak. It is the smallest of crane species and is also known as Koonj or Kurjaan. They are widely distributed across Central Eurasia, from Black Sea to North East China and Mongolia and it travels through Himalayan Valleys entering India via Nepal. Khichan in Rajasthan is India's first reserve dedicated to this species and its IUCN status is Least Concern.</p>

<p>The Chief of Indian Army General Upendra Dwivedi recently launched an online learning platform for the Indian Army namely “EKLAVYA”. The platform has been developed by BISAG-N, Gandhinagar and has been hosted on the Army Data Network. The initiative is linked to the Indian Army's theme for 2024 as the “Year of Technology Absorption”. It has been developed under Headquarters Army Training Command with Army War College as sponsor agency. </p>
