<p>The First Diabetes Biobank of India was recently established at the Madras Diabetes Research Foundation (MDRF) in Chennai. The Biobank was established by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and is aimed at collecting biological samples from different populations to aid scientific research. The Facility is to house samples of various forms of diabetes like Type 1, Type 2 and Gestational Diabetes. </p>

<p>The second ship under the Survey Vessel (Large) Project of the Indian Navy namely INS NIRDESHAK was recently commissioned at the Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam. The ship is designed to conduct Hydrographic surveys and Maritime operations. The ship is composed of 80% indigenous content and is built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE), Kolkata. The ship is built using Integrated Construction Technology and adheres to the standards of the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS). </p>

<p>As per the recent finding published in Science Advances, scientists have discovered a chemical pathway that worsens air quality in cold winters along with formation of Hydroxymethanesulfonate in aerosol particles. The study highlights changes in aerosol chemistry under supercooled conditions in cold regions. Hydroxymethanesulfonate is a secondary aerosol that forms when formaldehyde reacts with Sulphur dioxide in presence of water.</p>

<p>A removal motion for Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav of Allahabad High Court was recently submitted by 55 Members of Parliament to the Chairman of Rajya Sabha. A Supreme Court judge or a High Court Judge can be removed by the President under Articles 124 and 217 of the Constitution of India. The grounds for removal of the Judge are proven misbehaviour or Incapacity. </p>

<p>The United Kingdom recently became the 12th member of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) also known as the Joint Trans-Pacific Trade Agreement. It is a Free Trade Agreement aimed at reducing trade barriers among 11 member countries. The FTA was finalised in 2018 with member nations including Brunei, Canada, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Mexico, Chile, Peru, Vietnam and Singapore.</p>

<p>The Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) recently rolled out the CHARAK initiative under the guidance of the Ministry of Coal. CHARAK stands for Community Health: A Responsive Action for Koylanchal. It is a health-centric Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at providing free treatment for patients suffering from Life-Threatening Diseases. The initiative is limited to people belonging to Economically Weaker Sections of the Singrauli region. </p>

<p>A Credit Guarantee Scheme for e-NWR-based Pledge Financing (CGS-NPF) was recently launched by the Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and New and Renewable Energy Shri Prahlad Joshi. The objective of the scheme is to provide post-harvest finance to farmers against electronic negotiable warehouse receipts (e-NWRs). The risks covered under the scheme are Credit and Warehouseman and are aimed to prevent farmers from distress selling.</p>

<p>The Indian Navy recently conducted Exercise SLINEX 2024 (Sri Lanka-India Exercise) at Visakhapatnam under the aegis of Eastern Naval Command. It is a bilateral naval exercise initiated in 2005 with the aim to strengthen Maritime cooperation between India and Sri Lanka. The exercise was held in two phases namely the Harbour Phase and the Sea Phase. </p>

<p>Four-time Grammy Award Winner and Tabla Maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain recently passed away at the age of 73 in San Francisco. He was suffering from Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, a serious chronic disease that affects the tissue surrounding the air sacs or alveoli. Born on March 9, 1951 he was the son of legendary tablaaster Ustad Alla Rakha. He also received India's second-highest civilian award Padma Vibhushan.</p>
