<p>The Kandivali and Dahisar railway stations have recently been included by Western Railway in Amritsar Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS). The scheme was launched by the Ministry of Railways in February 2023 to redevelop railway stations across India. The scheme will provide new amenities and improved traffic circulation.</p>

<p>The Jim Corbett Tiger Reserve recently ran an awareness campaign to observe World Elephant day on August 12, 2024. The theme of this year is “Personifying Prehistoric beauty, Theological Relevance and Environmental Importance”. The day was established on August 12, 2012 by joint forces Patricia Sims of Canada and Elephant Reintroduction Foundation of Thailand.</p>

<p>The Minister of Minority Affairs Shri Kiren Rijuji launched the Jiyo Parsi Scheme Portal. The Jiyo Parsi Scheme is a central sector scheme aimed to arrest the population decline of the Parsi community in India. The scheme was launched in 2013 and it has three components namely Medical Assistance, Advocacy and Health of Community. </p>

<p>The Version 2.0 of Floodwatch India mobile application was recently launched by Union Minister of Jal Shakti C. R. Patil. The mobile application was developed by the Central Water Commission (CWC) and it gives information related to flood situation and forecasts for upto 7 days on real time basis. The version 2.0 provides information at 392 flood monitoring stations.</p>

<h2 id="content-id-1724781114537-4"><strong>Sambar and Barking deer to be released in Chandaka Wildlife Sanctuary </strong></h2>

<p>A Sambar and a Barking deer were released by authorities at Chandaka Wildlife Sanctuary as a part of Prey augmentation on Independence day. The Wildlife Sanctuary is located in Odisha and got sanctuary status in 1982. The authorities brought 12 sambars from Taptapani zoo and 11 barking deers from Nandankanan under the augmentation programme. </p>

<h2 id="content-id-1724781114539-5"><strong>Successfully test flight of LRGB Gaurav </strong></h2>

<p>A successful maiden test flight of a Long Range Glide Bomb (LRGB), Gaurav was recently conducted by DRDO. The flight test was carried out from the Su-30 MK-1 platform of the Indian Air force. The LGRB Gaurav has been designed and developed by the Research Centre Imarat (RCI), Hyderabad and it is an air launched 1000 kg class glide bomb.</p>

<p>The Anti-diabetic herb Gurmar, scientifically known as Gymnema Sylvester was recently uncovered by researchers at Brahmayoni Hill in Gaya, Bihar. The herb has already been utilised by CSIR to develop Anti-diabetic drug called BGR-34. It is a Perennial Plant and grows in Tropical conditions. The plant is indigenous to India.</p>

<p>The Indian Navy is all set to commision its second nuclear-powered submarine namely “INS Arighat”. The Submarine was constructed at Indian Navy's Ship Building Centre in Visakhapatnam and it measures 111 metres in length with displacement of 6000 tonnes. The INS Arighat represents a critical component of India's nuclear triad.</p>

<p>The Diamond Imprest Licence was recently introduced by Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal. The announcement was made at the 40th edition of the India International Jewellery Show (IIJS) 2024. The event was organised by the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC). The licence allows eligible exporters to import cut and polished diamonds.</p>
