She is also a member of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister and the Convener for the Advisory Council to the 16th Finance Commission. <p>The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced that 98.21% of Rs 2000 banknotes have been returned to the banking system after the withdrawal announcement in May 2023. At that time, Rs 2000 notes in circulation were valued at 3.56 lakh crore, which has now decreased to 6,366 crore as of March 31, 2025. The deposit and exchange facility for these notes was available at bank branches until October 7, 2023, and remains accessible at 19 RBI offices. Rs 2000 notes continue to be legal tender.</p>
